Own Boat Tuition Overview

Our Yachtmaster instructors are happy to extend tuition to owners on their own boats, where better to learn.

Conditions of Own Boat Tuition
The vessel should be in a sound condition and adequately equipped, both for
safety and for effective instruction. A valid insurance certificate must be provided.
There is no requirement for the vessel to be coded under a small commercial vessel certificate.
Tuition can be provided for the owner and up to 3 additional family or friends.

The benefits of using your own boat for your own learning are many, not least familiarity, enabling you to use your vessel to its full potential. We can provide an experienced instructor to guide you through the early stages of familiarisation and ownership. Areas worth considering may include boat handling or passage making.

Should you wish to use your own boat for RYA Instruction, or simply require coaching in specific areas such as boat handling, pilotage or sail trimming, please call us to discuss your requirements.

Our instructors have significant experience of a wide range of yachts, motor cruisers and powerboats, and our informal approach will soon build your confidence and maximise your enjoyment. We can design instructional packages to suit your individual needs.
