
AIM: To teach pilotage, navigation,
seamanship and boat handling to the
standard required to skipper a Motor
Cruiser safely by day in waters with
which you are familiar.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: You should already
have basic helming ability and you would
have been on a Motor Cruiser for two or
three days in order to start this
course.
THE COURSE: The course includes passage
planning, navigation and pilotage, night
cruising, anchoring, berthing and boat
handling. Confidence in entering
harbours and an emphasis on sound
judgments and decisions are part of this
course.
DURATION OF COURSE: The course is run
over four days living onboard the boat.
CRUISING AREA: Clyde
ALTERNATIVES: This course may be run
over two, two-day periods, either
weekdays or weekends. The Helmsman and
Day Skipper courses may be combined as a
single five-day course.
